Are Frozen Vegetables as Nutritious as Fresh Ones?

Frozen vegetables are a miracle, especially for people with busy schedules who can’t fathom the idea of sautéing fresh spinach or roasting cauliflower at the end of a long workday. But while that ice-cold block of broccoli may cut down on your cooking and cleanup time, does it actually provide you with the same nutrients as the fresh stuff? The answer is a resounding “pretty much.” And depending on the type of fruit or vegetable you buy and the nutrients you're looking for, frozen might even be better than fresh produce. In 2015, Dr. Ali Bouzari and a team at the University of California, Davis, studied the vitamin content of eight fruits and vegetables (corn, carrots, broccoli, spinach, peas, green beans, strawberries, and blueberries), using both fresh and frozen samples. What they found was that while some produce lost a small amount of nutrients when frozen, there were times when they actually had more. “It really depends which plant you’re talking about,” Dr. Bouzari said in an interview with The New York Times. And it's true—while the frozen broccoli had more riboflavin than fresh, the opposite was true for peas. Broccoli was also found to have increased "phenols, carotenoids, chlorophyll, and also antioxidant capacity" when frozen. The biggest issue with frozen vegetables, according to the study, came with beta carotene in the peas, carrots, and spinach, which was found to “decrease drastically in some commodities.” There's good news if you're always on the hunt for easy sources of fiber: the team found that the fluctuations in fiber content was dependent on the specific fruit or vegetable being tested, but on the whole, there was “no significant difference between fresh and frozen.” “Minerals like iron are almost bulletproof, and the fiber doesn’t care at all whether it’s heated or frozen,” Dr. Bouzari told The Times. [RELATED1] In another study, Ronald Pegg, associate professor of food science and technology at the University of Georgia, found that some frozen fruits and vegetables contained more vitamins A and C when compared to fresh produce that had been stored normally for five days. That’s because produce begins losing nutritional value over time, so once it’s picked, packaged, shipped to stores, and bought by you, your fruits and vegetables are always losing something. Frozen produce, in theory, would halt this process and get you fruits and vegetables at a more vitamin-rich stage. “Freezing is nature’s pause button,” Pegg said. “It helps maintain the nutritional value of fresh vegetables, even during storage.” So, fear not. Throw your frozen berries into shakes, cook that rock-hard block of spinach, and toss that icy corn into a big pot of turkey chili. You’ll be getting just as big of a nutritional bang for your buck. Maybe even more. [RELATED2]

'Smackdown' Recap: Samoa Joe Makes a Surprise Visit to AJ Styles's House
https://ift.tt/2N6h5VA
Courtesy WWE
Over the past few weeks, it's been clear that Samoa Joe's attempts to get into AJ Styles's head have been working. At Summerslam, their championship match ended in disqualification after Styles attacked Joe with a steel chair when Joe taunted Styles's wife and daughter. At Hell in a Cell, Styles was able to get a pin, but it was later revealed that the referee didn't see Styles tapping out to the Coquina Clutch just before the three-count. But what Joe did next was shocking, even after all of the threats he's made to Styles and his family. On Smackdown last night, General Manager Paige hosted the contract signing for the next match between Joe and Styles, slated for Super Show-Down in Australia. She announced that the match would have no disqualifications, in order to guarantee a clear winner. While Styles made his way to the ring, Joe was nowhere to be found. Styles used this opportunity to berate Joe for his dirty tactics, but suddenly a familiar face came on the Titan-Tron: Samoa Joe. And he was at AJ Styles's house. The always-threatening Joe then told a terrified Styles that he should remember how helpless he feels right now, because that's how he's going to feel after he loses at Super Show-Down. Unfortunately, we don't know what happened next, but for Styles's sake, we sure hope his family didn't answer the door.

The Holidays Are Coming, Make Your Health Priority
https://ift.tt/2QYfzb7 Coach Micki Pauley teaching a Warrior Body class in Morgantown, West Virginia
The holidays are right around the corner and for many this means slowing down fitness routines, but for myself and other fitness professionals, it becomes important to find ways to show our clients and help them keep their health a priority during one of the busiest times of the year. I get it—friends and family come in to visit, tons of traveling takes place, our lives get out of sync, but the one thing that can stay in sync is your health routine, or at least there are ways to make modifications to help keep your health a priority. While the holidays are an exciting time they can also be very stressful, so this is the time to keep up with as much of a fitness and nutrition routine as possible.
5 Ways to Take Care of Yourself NowLast year I did a one-month holiday special for the entire month of December and included nutrition, Warrior Body workouts, access to a private Facebook page for additional coaching, along with other helpful resources. My goal was to keep individuals motivated and excited. I wanted to show them that waiting for the holidays to be over to regain their fitness routine shouldn’t be an option.
My first tip for you is to start now. Find a program that works for you and get started. I can hear some of you saying:
“Well, I don’t want to start now because the holidays are coming and I will just have to stop.”
“I have to save my money for holiday shopping.”
“Eh, I will just wait until the holidays are over. I want to enjoy them.”
The last sentence really gets me, “I want to enjoy them.” I must be honest, I never did understand that statement because why can’t the holidays be enjoyed while also taking care of yourself? Oh, because you don’t think you can have a slice of grandma Ester’s best homemade apple pie? Shoot, I know I am going to! The best part is, my body is going to burn it off quicker because I take care of it and workout regularly. Do you see what I mean? Also, eating sweets isn’t my everyday nutrition so I am able to enjoy that slice of apple sweetness even more.
My second tip—really let this sink in—don't feel obligated to eat all of the treats given to you. I often hear that individuals feel bad for not eating the pumpkin pie made by a friend or the coworker's famous sugar cookies. If you don’t want it, you don’t want it. However, if you do want it, take some of each and enjoy it. There is no sense in stressing out about it.
My third tip is to be prepared. If you know you are going to a holiday party and are afraid of being ravenous the eat before you go. I often tell my clients to eat a small meal or snack before heading to the party so that way they can still consume foods they enjoy but aren’t so hungry they clear the entire buffet. Extra fun tip before we head to tip number four—if you are heading into a nutrition program with a “diet” mentality, chances are this isn’t going to work out well for you. Diets are meant to be short term, but if you are looking to make lasting changes then stepping outside of the mindset that foods are off limits or that you can't have something anymore tends to make us want it that much more.
My tip number four is to balance your system. The more balanced your nutrition is the more satisfied your body becomes. Going low carb is not always the answer. Not eating at all because you have a party to go to and you want to save your calories isn’t the answer either. Make sure you are consuming a protein, a healthy fat, a vegetable and/or fruit. Intentional carbohydrates (such as your grains) come in handy around your workouts. When our bodies are fed healthy, whole goodness it helps to kick our metabolism up a notch and make us fat burning machines.
Tip number five is critical—don't miss your workouts! Remember when I said that our lives get out of sync? Well, if you can’t make it to the gym for your regular workout because cousin Larry is in town visiting, keep in mind that there are plenty of quick, at home options to dive into for when the gym just isn’t an option.
Holiday Workout Options to Stay on TrackMy clients know that I am a big fan of tabatas. In fact, I wrote an article about them because when used correctly they are super effective and can take up to as little as four minutes. So what is a tabata? ? It is a four minute, high-intensity workout that can include anywhere between 1-4 exercises. You do work as hard as you can for 20 seconds and then you give yourself a 10-second rest before hitting it hard again. Depending on how many exercises chosen and which they are, the 10 seconds rest can quickly become the transition period between exercises.
If you don’t want to tabata other great formats are AMRAPs (as many rounds as possible). For this type of workout, you set a timer for whatever duration you choose–I typically start at 10 minutes, but you can go for 15, 20, even 30 minutes. However long you choose, set a timer, choose your exercises and complete as many rounds as possible in that timeframe. The goal is to get your heart rate up and get a good sweat in.
You can say that I have “been there, done that” when it comes to health and fitness. I used to be that girl who would eat super clean, down to the final crumb, during the holiday festivities. It wasn’t because I wanted to; it was because I was too afraid to deviate from my plan. I found that it’s not just the holiday meals that make the difference, but all the other meals I eat year-round, every day. Those are the meals that matter. Don’t sabotage your health and fitness goals–make them a part of your life and enjoy the holidays.
Below are sample exercises you can do to put in either a tabata or AMRAP:
Example Tabata: Alternate between mountain climbers and sit up/stand ups (start in a sit up position and go all the way to standing.) You can remove one of the exercises and just do one for a tabata or add three more exercises and have a total of four.
Example AMRAP: Set timer for 10-20 minutes and complete as many rounds as possible.
10 Mountain Climbers (each side) 10 Push Ups 10 Sit Up/Stand Ups 10 Jump Squats 20 Second Planks

Ivan Drago Returns to Challenge Adonis and Rocky In the Extremely Intense ‘Creed 2’ Trailer
https://ift.tt/2OdFxcd Ivan Drago is back and his son is ready to challenge Adonis Creed. The latest Creed 2 trailer is here, and it’s everything you hoped it would be. From the pulse-pounding classic score, to Michael B. Jordan’s ripped physique, to Sylvester Stallone’s wise wisdom as Rocky, and the first good look at the return of Drago (Dolph Lundgren), Creed II is shaping up to be as intense as the original. Picking up some time after the first film, the sequel follows Adonis (Jordan) as he tries to navigate the boxing world as a well-known fighter and champion. The trailer reveals that Adonis now has a child with his girlfriend Bianca (Tessa Thompson), adding more personal stakes every time he steps into the ring. The official plot setup for the film reads: "Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what’s worth fighting for, and discover that nothing’s more important than family. Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can’t escape your history," according to Deadline.
It also reveals the return of Ivan Drago, one of the most iconic villains and movie characters of all time. In the same way Rocky is working with Creed, Drago is coaching his son in the ring—and challenges Creed to the ultimate fight. Drago is the man that (spoiler alert) killed his father Apollo Creed in Rocky IV, and now Adonis will get the chance for revenge in the ring against Drago’s son. Romanian boxer Florian Munteanu looks even more jacked than Jordan in the trailer—which is really saying something considering how shredded Jordan got for the film—and the trailer teases an intense battle between the two. Creed II is set to hit theaters on November 21, 2018.

You're Confused About Supplements
https://ift.tt/2Dwlsd9 Coach Jesse Irizarry at JDI Barbell in New York, New York
When someone tells me they don’t take supplements, I usually don’t believe them. Those who fancy themselves as whole food eaters often don’t realize that they are supplementing even if they don’t consume pills or powders. They also are unaware that there are categories to supplementation and they are often misunderstood or overlooked.
Different supplements, of course, have different roles but being unable to identify that categories are where most people fall short in understanding their utility. Understanding these roles and categories will help you decide what to take and when to take it. So, when new members of my gym ask if they should take supplements I tell them the question isn’t whether they should or not, because they’re already taking something. The question is what needs do they have and what category do they need to focus on.
Considering The DifferenceWhen discussing supplements, the conversation shouldn’t spotlight an individual supplement or if that product is good for you or not. Instead, you should consider what you’re focusing on in health or performance and what category assists those needs. The categories can include but aren’t limited to: muscle growth, performance (increased or sustained energy, assistance in more output during exercise), recovery or regulation of stress and hormones, digestion, nutrient delivery or focusing, body composition, and sleep quality.
Once you identify what category is in neglect because of diet or lifestyle, can decide which supplement in a particular category makes the most sense, or at least start experimenting. For example, if you want to build muscle mass, you may decide to use protein powder. But within this sub-category, you’ll have to decide what is best for you. For example, whey protein doesn’t sit well with certain people so you may have to decide on an alternative.
Maybe you want to use one thing to aide across multiple categories. If you wanted to gain some muscle mass and wanted to increase energy during workouts, you may decide to use creatine. Although creatine doesn’t directly increase muscle mass it indirectly contributes toward it by increasing your ability to endure, buffer, and recover from stresses. So you take it, you work out harder, you get bigger.
Maybe sleep quality is the limiting factor in overall health or performance so you decide to look into this category and supplement with magnesium or zinc. You can experiment to see which one helps the most. Maybe you decide to take a calming tea elixir before bed–yes, I would consider the use of tea as a supplementation means in this case as well.
You may want to increase fats intake for hormonal regulation or use their nutrient delivery benefit of it and combine with other macronutrients. In this case, you may add MCT oil to whatever beverage or food you’re taking in. All of this is the use and understanding of supplementation to your base diet.
Understanding the DeficiencyWith the categories properly defined, you can focus on what you particularly need by seeing where your base diet of whole foods may lack. Everyone who gives their health a second thought has every good intention of sustaining a diet rich with foods that cover every macro and micronutrient need.
While this is a great soundbite for a podcast, it's completely impractical in the lives that most of us actually live. Many of us tend to have to rush from one activity to the next. Even if we prep our meals at home it’s very hard to keep everything stocked and include every food group if we’re not cooking meals throughout the day. Stacking supplements on top of a nutrient rich diet to fill in gaps and address deficiencies is the approach that is more based in reality.
Identifying your deficiencies can be done very systematically by getting blood work done. You could also track your diet and use markers to journal indicators such as mood, recovery, quality of sleep, hunger, cravings, etc. to decide what category you may need assistance in. And at the very least you can become observant to the effects certain foods or increases in certain nutrients have on your body to decide if you want to experiment with a certain supplement to see the effect in increasing a nutrient, vitamin, or mineral.
Focusing on One Variable at a TimeAdmittedly, I’m historically the worst at only introducing one variable at a time and have violated this principle in every possible way. This has without a doubt set me back in my own self-understanding of what works for me and what I need.
When you’re deciding to add protein, or take caffeine for your workouts, or increase your fat intake, or take something for joint health, first select only one category to improve at a time and then take just one, maybe two, supplements within that category. If you start taking multiple supplements at once across many different categories, you may feel better or start gaining muscle or start killing it in the gym, but you will have zero ideas as to what is contributing and what is as good as taking a sugar pill. The result of this method is that you spend much more money than needed for a longer time and extend the learning curve to discover how to optimize your diet and supplementation.
You also need to have a constant of all dietary intake while adding in supplements. If you start taking protein powder but also start eating more nutrient dense food, how will you know how much the protein powder helped? Diet needs to remain constant while one to two things are introduced.
Find the Keys for Your BodyWhatever you take, it shouldn’t be because someone told you to take it because it worked for them—it should be because it is the particular key needed for you and your body. One thing should be introduced at a time and used alone for at least a few weeks before it is either taken out or left in to have something else stacked on top of it to build the best possible combination. Because that’s all this is, it’s using building blocks to build something better.

Gambling on Fitness

On the list of my ten all-time favorite movies, the top two are comic book movies, and half are mob movies. Growing up, if it had an inkling of the mafia, I watched them all. Sometimes, I had to suffer through a few for my sins, like Mobsters. Richard Grieco, Christian Slater, and Patrick Dempsey? Are they serious? It was Grey's Anatomy with Tommy Guns, Tiger Beat Magazine in pinstripes—a complete embarrassment. Thankfully, these films are in the minority. The Untouchables, The Godfather I and II, Goodfellas, and Casino; now those were movies. The only problem I have when re-watching these films is the sadness I feel when I think of how insane Robert DeNiro has become. Perhaps his fight scenes in Raging Bull weren't simulations.
The Punch that EnduresNevertheless, movies like these and others—like The Departed—packed a punch that will forever be remembered. I knew I made it when my uncle let me sit on the couch to watch Scarface. I had to pretend to be appalled by the violence to keep up the appearances of innocence. My mother would yell at my uncle for letting me watch "that filth." For some reason, she wouldn't turn off the television. Better to watch it at home with family than with the neighborhood kids, I suppose. Otherwise, I may get the wrong idea and think it was acceptable to cut a man in half with a chainsaw and snort piles of cocaine. If you're a lady reading this and wondered if the men in your life have ever used the phrase, "Say hello to my little friend" in a horrible Cuban accent, the answer is yes.
Who could forget Michael Corleone grabbing his brother Fredo by his face, kissing him on the mouth and saying, "I know it was you, Fredo. You broke my heart. You broke my heart." Or, Joe Pesci trolling Ray Liotta with the "funny how?" scene from Goodfellas. Although I know how it ends, it's a tense exchange that makes you question the outcome—masterfully done by Joe Pesci. If you are in the mood to view one of these classics again, or for the first time, I don't recommend watching any of them on FX or any other cable network. Testosterone-fueled movies involving organized crime have a penchant for colorful language and violence that always get edited for mainstream audiences. I remember one day I made the mistake of watching King of New York on television from a hotel room. I was horrified. It felt as though I was watching King of the Hill, not the Christopher Walken classic. Every other word was replaced with "sucker." Do yourself a favor and watch the uncut versions.
The real-life people that inspire unforgettable characters and movies are fascinating. Think Al Capone, Frank Costello, and Arnold Rothstein. One man, in particular, was Benjamin Siegel. Siegel was born February 28, 1906, to a Jewish immigrant family, and wasted no time getting his hands dirty. He was a tough, rough-and-tumble kid who would extort pushcart merchants on the Lower East Side. Before young Jewish men went into medicine, law, and business, they used their fists. Most escaped oppressive regimes in Europe and wanted a fresh start in America. But, it wasn't going to be handed to them. Siegel would befriend another young Jewish hoodlum, Meyer Lansky, known for his gifted mathematical mind, and formed Bugs-Meyer Gang. Meyer Lansky doesn't have the number of on-screen reproductions as Al Capone, but his name appears in every other rap song made in the 1990's. Benjamin became known as "Bugsy" to his fellow gang members due to his hot temper and violent disposition; crazy as a bedbug. Using violence to get their way was the modus operandi of the gang, affectionately known as Murder, Inc.
Organized CrimeIn the roaring 20's, Charles "Lucky" Luciano gave us what we now refer to as organized crime. He created a national syndicate, comprising of a network of crime families and organizations across the country, with himself as the head. He wasn't formally referred to as "The Boss of Bosses," but that's who he was. Bugsy played a significant part in establishing the new regime, including executing the old guard. With the three of them at the helm, organized crime reached a new level of power and profit. No one is above the law, and federal agents eventually nabbed Luciano. Lansky could see the writing on the wall and surmised he and Siegel were next. He suggested that Ben move west to Hollywood, and institute operations there. Lansky went down to Florida and eventually Cuba. Bugsy went to the City of Angels and quickly got to work. Between running prostitution rings and narcotics, he found time to hobnob with Tinseltown's finest. It seemed as though he found his niche. No one in Hollywood was going to match his muscle, so his authority would remain unchallenged, and his affinity for the high life made him feel at home.
In 1945, he and his girlfriend Virginia Hill moved to the desert—Las Vegas. Siegel had a vision of a desert oasis, filled with lights where the wealthiest from around the country would flock with bags of cash. In the mid-1940's, there were scatterings of saloons and casinos, like the El Rancho, where Clark Gable was known to have stayed. But, there was nothing like what Ben had in mind. It all started with the Flamingo Las Vegas.
William Wilkerson, the founder of the Hollywood Reporter, started the project in 1945. Since no hotel of the Flamingo's scale had ever been attempted, Wilkerson quickly ran out of money—Bugsy Siegel and the New York syndicate to the rescue. Siegel was given a budget of 1.5 million dollars to complete construction. Just as a reference point, The Bellagio was built for 1.6 billion—with a "B”—dollars. Unfortunately, Bugsy did not rise to prominence in the mob for his business acumen. That was Lansky's strength. Bugsy was muscle, sharp-dressed muscle, with a short fuse. Expenses on the Flamingo ballooned to 6 million by the time of its opening on December 26, 1947. If the unforeseen expenditures were attributable to development, licensing and so forth, perhaps New York would understand. It was not, and they would not. Bugsy stole many of the funds and mismanaged a lot more, even announcing that he would return the loans in "his own good time." In the mob, loyalty is a life-saving attribute.
On June 20, 1947, Siegel visited Los Angeles and stayed at Virginia Hill's Beverly Hills home. While he sat, reading the newspaper, nine shots erupted through a window. The display was gruesome. Newspaper headlines read:
"BUGSY SIEGEL MURDERED--RUBBED OUT IN BEVERLY HILLS IN HAIL OF BULLETS."
Photographs from the murder scene appear as though he was shot through the eye socket. He was not, but that didn't stop Hollywood from memorializing it in the Godfather. Moe Green, a character based on Siegel is shot in the eye while getting a massage, dubbed the "Moe Green Special." It is worth noting that Warren Beatty, who played Bugsy in the lackluster film by the same name, has been riddled with bullets twice. Once in Bugsy, and the other as Clyde Barrow in Bonnie and Clyde. The day after Siegel's death, representatives of the Las Vegas mob, backed by Lansky, took over operations of the Flamingo. Decades of mob rule had begun in Las Vegas. To this day, the Siegel murder has not been solved.
The Risk of Gambling Your FitnessWhen you think of Las Vegas, what comes to mind? Buffets and Cirque Du Soleil? What about gambling, a Nevada staple since 1931? When we think of gambling, we think of James Bond playing poker to save the world, or maybe Robert Redford and Paul Newman swindling Robert Shaw in The Sting. Even if you've never seen The Sting, I'm willing to bet you'd recognize the theme song after six seconds. Don't believe me? Look it up. Gambling has a larger role in our lives than we think, particularly in fitness.
Gambling: taking risky action in the hope of a desired result.
When we gamble, the longshot, the biggest risk of them all, has the most appeal. It's dangerous, reckless, and you tell yourself you shouldn't. You repeat it in your head, even as you place your chips on the table. The more you put down, the more electric the feeling. The unsafe bets give us a primal adrenaline rush, hanging on to the thread of hope that we'll strike it rich. Every day, we take gambles on our health and fitness, but without the tuxedo and martini, shaken-not-stirred. We subconsciously know we are gambling but do not call it by that name. Look at where people spend their money and their energy. The Weight-Loss Industry rakes in 66 Billion dollars per year. Akin to Feds chasing bootleggers and hooch, the NIH spent 913 million to "study" why weight loss is hard. Let's all collectively facepalm.
Each new diet book, fat burning tea, "bio-hack," all resemble luxurious casino tables. Each one, promising a massive payoff, like the brand-new Jaguar rotating on display. But, the payoff never comes. No huge jackpot. The house always wins. We must know that these get-fit-quick schemes are bullshit. Don't we? We must certainly be aware that there's no shell under the cups. But, it's the rush. It's the faint sense of "you never know" and "maybe." We talk ourselves into it. The oiled-up fitness guy pops up on your Facebook feed, encouraging you to "burn fat" and "get photoshoot ready" in six weeks, and you can't help but think, "this is garbage, but what if it works?" You step up to the high-stakes casino table thinking, "what if," and give up the cash. The what-if ends the way it always ends, with you going home empty-handed and the only thing that leaned out is your wallet.
Is safe boring? Is the dependable bet the one we don't want to make? If you knew you'd win, does that make you less likely to play? Does it make us pass by those tables, favoring the sparkly ones, with bikini-clad ladies standing on either side and a gentleman sporting a six-pack standing behind? "Take a seat, play a while, and all this can be yours." The dealer flips a card—a hundred burpees. He flips another—an hour on the treadmill, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. A cocktail waitress walks by, to refresh your drink. It's not whiskey, but a multi-filtered, ultra-premium, muscle-building, fat-destroying protein powder, infused with vibranium-coated BCAA's from Wakanda. It's getting late, you're falling asleep. You've only eaten 800 calories. The waitress comes by again. This time, with coffee. But, not just any coffee. There's a stick of butter in it, formulated to transform your gut into the leanest and sexiest stomach this side of an Instagram filter. It'll make you a mental genius, and launch you to the top of the Forbes list, and the cover of Sports Illustrated. Eventually, it gives you the runs, and you're still losing money. The house always wins.
After eighteen years in the industry, I was not immune to the big wagers. If there was a new gizmo guaranteeing results, I owned it. If there was a seminar promising the latest, cutting-edge methodology, I was on the next plane. I remember staying at a roach motel in Queens for a week, where I'm pretty sure there was a dead body under my mattress. Why? To attend a seminar that claimed they could identify altered hormonal patterns by pinching someone's fat. I'm not a victim, I was a big boy and made my own decision to go. It was an exciting gamble. It was also bullshit. The next time I grab your stomach fat, I'm analyzing your thyroid hormone—or something.
Bet on the ReliableDon't go all-in and sink your money, effort, and emotions on the big tables that offer much and never deliver. Bet on the reliable, again-and-again. Win small, but win. Accumulate the small winnings into a large pot. By the end of six months or a year, you'll need to exit the casino with a briefcase and security detail. Notice I said, six months—not six days, and a year—not a week. That's the thing with the safe, dependable fitness gambles. They take effort. They take time. They also bring out the best in us and don’t cater to our gluttonous and greedy natures. There's nothing wrong with a little gambling. However, it's never a substitute for good, old-fashioned work. So, step right up and place your bets. Win a little and win often.
I do wonder, sometimes, would Bugsy Siegel have survived the shooting if he was drinking Bulletproof Coffee?

Worldwide sales for legendary rockers Def Leppard exceed 100 million copies, and the band’s longtime lead guitarist, Phil Collen, has put up someimpressive numbers in the gym, too. Once guitar-neck skinny, Collen bench-pressed nearly 400 pounds in his prime and is now alean and ripped 60-year-old, thanks to vegetarianism and rib-busting Muay Thai kicks. We caught up with Collen during the band’s recently launched 58-city tour with Journey. More than 30 years later, Def Leppard’s Pyromania and Hysteria albums still hold up. Does that make you feel proud or old? It’s awesome. I distinctly remember someone asking me when we were making Hysteria, “Why are you spending all this time and putting so much effort into this record?” And I said, “So you’ll be talking about it in 20 years’ time.” We wanted to make sure the songs were great and had lasting power.
