The question: I’m bothered by the flab that’s hanging down from my arms. what can I do to get rid of these chicken wings? “To helpreduce fat anywhere in your body, you need to do a combination of cardio, weight training, and clean eating,” notes Los Angeles–based celebrity trainer Lacey Stone. Adding lean muscle will give you more than just shapely arms. “Muscle raises your basal metabolic rate, which is the rate at which you burn fat. The more muscle you have, the faster you’ll be able to lose excess weight.” In addition to burning fat, make sure you’re targeting your arms with a variety of exercises. (See Stone’s seven favorite arm and shoulder moves, below.) The ExercisesAim to do three sets of 12 reps for each exercise. “Don’t be afraid to lift heavy! By your third set it should be very difficult to complete the final rep—that’s how you know you have chosen the correct weight,” Stone says. Triceps

'Hers' Guy Joe Manganiello on Grit, Hard Work, and Making His Own Transformation

1. He's Not Your Average Joe I’ve met a lot of people who think the celebrities they see on the screen pop out of the womb in great shape, or that a great physique isn’t possible without some sort of performance-enhancing drug. None of that is true for me. Growing up, I was a scrawny teenager who couldn’t do a single pullup or dip. Failing at a young age motivated me. I didn’t shy away from a physical challenge. I just wouldn’t take no for an answer. 2. He's Got The Write Stuff This past year, I wrote a book called Evolution, which examines my own lifelong growth in terms of physical fitness, and how that discipline and philosophy rippled out into all aspects of my life. It seemed that everywhere I looked I saw garbage celebrity workouts and gimmicky fitness infomercials, and I wanted to do my part to change that mentality. The book is meant to motivate and inspire people to go beyond whatever they thought was possible for themselves. 3. He Trains Tough When I’m training for a project, I do two-a-day workouts, splitting cardio and weight training. The focus is on maximizing intensity by trying to keep my heart rate up throughout. Most of my book addresses the mental aspect of training. The exercises are designed to train your body while dealing with the challenge of pushing past when your brain says stop. I don’t mind discipline, because the life-changing results are worth it. I love the alchemy aspect of it, the transformation. 4. His Real-life Role Play When I was cast on True Blood, there was no discussion from the “powers that be” about what kind of physical shape they wanted me to be in or what the character looked like. They hired me as I looked the day I met them. But I did see the role as an opportunity to transform physically. However, none of that outside stuff matters if the character doesn’t resonate on an internal level. 5. His Past Lives Sculpted His Present I see everything in life as a lesson and an opportunity for growth. Looking back, my worst relationships were often the experiences that forced me to become the best man I’ve ever been. The goal for me has always been to find someone with whom I can grow and build something. All of my exes have taught me to be a better man and to step up my game a little more each time. Salmon With Saffron Tomatoes, Fennel, and Sweet Potato

Sweet potato trumps the rest of the carb field based on its high vitamin A content and relatively lower carb count. Plus, its high levels of soluble fiber help control blood sugar and slow digestion so you feel satisfied longer. Tip: You don't need to consume loads of healthy carbs at every meal for the sustained reducing in blood glucose levels, thanks to the "second meal" effect that low GI foods create. Just one low GI food per meal is enough.
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425°.
Chop fennel, red onion, zucchini, and peeled sweet potato into wedges, then roast for 30 minutes or until golden. Roast cherry tomatoes at the same temperature for 10 minutes.
Roast salmon at 350° for 10-15 minutes until cooked.
Meanwhile, make sauce: Cook chopped garlic, fennel seeds, thyme, and saffron in vegetable oil on low to medium heat for a few minutes. Add agave, vegetable bouillon, water, and tomato puree; cook for 5 minutes.
To assemble, toss roasted vegetables in some of the tomato sauce. Place them on a plate, then top with roasted salmon and drizzle with remaining sauce. Garnish with peas and chopped parsley.

Quinoa, the king of carbs, is a great alternative to typical grains like wheat, oats, and barley. What sets quinoa apart is its amino acid profile, which yields a whopping 24g of complete protein per cup. Quinoa also contains high levels of heart-healthy essential fatty acids, such as ALA and oleic acid. Plus, its high fiber content (12g per cup) makes it a low glycemic-index source of energy—perfect for fueling longer workouts.
Directions:
Place all dressing ingredients in a blender and puree.
Cook quinoa according to package directions, then drain and cool.
Slice chicken breast along its length to get a butterflied joint. Season with salt and pepper and cook in an oiled pan over medium heat for 4 minutes on each side.
Remove from heat and shred chicken.
In a large bowl, mix dressing with cooked quinoa. Toss vegetables and fruits together and mix; then crumble in feta.
To serve, divide among four plates and top with shredded chicken.
